The Mid-Atlantic surfing states include New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), Delaware (DE), Maryland (MD) and Virginia (VA). They are home to an abundance of good quality, hard-breaking beachbreaks. Endless man-made structures litter the coast in the form of piers, jetties and breakwalls providing plenty of options. As with most of the East Coast, the best time to find consistent waves along this Atlantic shoreline is right before, during, and just after the winter season. The only hope during the warmer months is to luck into some summertime hurricane action.
