About Communication Skills

This book provides strong evidence that leadership is not only a leader’s matter - it is a matter of concern for the whole leadership community. Within early childhood education this means that the stakeholders, including centre staff, have a strong influence on leadership. Yet, a leader has to develop her/his leadership skills, like interpersonal communication, in order to “cope with the every day challenges of leadership, management and administration. There is truly no other activity which is as varied as communication. There are a thousand ways and in each of them a new thousand ways. Therefore, communication is never perfect and only thus possible. It is always only one of the possibilities, yet then real and genuine. We discover new facts with it, we convey them to the others, and most importantly, we are part of this delight - the present moment orientated towards the creation of future. This book provides the resources that students and lecturers may not previously have had access to in one format and we look forward to receiving feedback for improvements to future editions. This book is meant to be a student-friendly, useful, and informal guide to help students as well as professionals become better communicators.
